The story

What is it about?

Little Sonja dreams of being able to fly — just like her aunt Maja, who is a real magician. Aunt Maja promises her wings for her birthday, but then she vanishes without a trace.

Years later Sonja finds tiny, see-through wings in a box of old toys. No sooner does she wish to try them on than a wonder happens: she turns teeny-tiny and lifts off the ground.

In the forest Sonja meets a mysterious talking cat, who gives her a hint: perhaps Aunt Maja lives on the moon? The girl takes heart and sets off — through the night, past the stars, until she reaches the moon and finds her aunt again.

In the media

«Sonja und die Mondfee» was warmly received in Leonberg: at the town hall the book was presented to Lord Mayor Tobias Degode. Deputy Mayor Josefa von Hohenzollern was shown the short film — she welcomed it warmly, gave it her blessing and made the Hohenzollern coat of arms available to the film team for the title sequence. Copies of the book were donated to the Leonberg public library. The short film was submitted to the WAiFF in Cannes.
